Corlay and Company was formed in 1969, evolving from George Cormack and Son (Waterbarn) Limited, which in itself was founded in 1923. The latter was one of the first carpet underlay manufacturers in the North West of England and was based in the Rossendale Valley, then home to much of the UK’s textile industry.
In 1965, George Cormacks moved to its current location of Bank Hall Mill, Burnley from where Corlay has continued to produce it’s quality needleloom underfelt and combination underlay products, catering for all carpet installation needs.
This family concern is currently seeing the third and fourth generation of the Cormack family running the business. George and Alysia Cormack are assisted by their two sons, Tim and Andrew, who are the directors responsible for sales and production respectively.
Corlay manufactures its products to various British standards in terms of flame retardancy, static loading and dynamic loading, as well as acoustic absorption.
